Insurgent Strike .12 Status Update
With the release of 0.12 looming, Insurgent Strike Developers have been hard at work getting an abundance of new features ingame. From improved kits to a ‘king’s armoury’ of brand new weapons, version 0.12 is going to be jam-packed with a plethora of new toys for you and your team to use. A picture speaks a thousand words, so here’s some shots of what you can look forward to in 0.12:
L85A2
First off is our brand new series of L85A2 assault rifles for the British Faction. Complete with new animations by [IS-DEV]Dogbox and [IS-DEV]Nick.

M16A4/M4
Next in line is the new AR-15 series of rifles for our American Factions (that’s right, factions, plural). Both the M16A4 and M4 come with separate M68 Aimpoint and ACOG variants.

UH-1Y Venom
Last of all, a big announcement! For 0.12 the USMC will be making a return, and what better way to celebrate than to share with you their newest vehicle! Presenting the UH-1Y, the latest variant of the venerable UH-1 ‘Huey’ Series of Helicopters used by the USMC. Complete with a nice new engine block and digital cockpit by [IS-DEV]Dogbox and [IS-DEV]Nick. Original model courtesy of Eve of Destruction Mod and Badscull.
Mednogorsk
And to finish this news post, we’ll leave you with a sneak peak of our latest map.
Head mapper [IS-DEV]Spyker has been working on a new map for our Russian and Chechen factions to battle it out on, Mednogorsk. Here’s a video walkthrough:

BGF Update #74 – High-Explosive!
Welcome back to another update for Battlegroup Frontlines, we hope that everyone had a good holiday season this year! Naturally over the course of the holidays the release of content updates has been slowed, but we hope that in the next few weeks the speed at which we were showing off some of our works in progress will continue.
Before we get started today, we would like to welcome Bruno to our dev team. Bruno emailed the mod informing us that he had over one hundred effects he wanted to share with us. Soon after he posted an application and became a full time dev. We are very pleased to be showing off some of the work he has done for us, and hope that he can continue to aid us in this area in the future!
“My name is Bruno Gorostiaga and I would like to show you the particle effects I do for Battlefield 2 since it came out. I focus on performance and photorealism, I do my own textures and most of them are animated.” – Bruno
To show off these effects, we have a series of pictures and a video recorded in-game showing some of the effects in motion. Enjoy!

Last but not least we have our new Flak 38, modeled by Koricus, and skinned by Wasper.
By 1940 it was already apparent that the low rate of fire of the 2 cm Flak 30 was too low for the faster aircraft ariving in combat. So it was decided to increase its rate of fire in order to increase the number of projectiles in the air, and hitting the target. Along with a slow firing rate, the German Flak 30 had a history of jamming during use, Mauser received the contract to produce an update for the Flak 30.
Mauser successfully increased the firing speed of the Flak 30 from 420 rounds per minute, to 480 rounds per minute, this anti-aircraft gun became known as the Flak 38. It entered service in late 1940, and eventually replaced the Flak 30 on the production lines. The Flak 38 served along side its older brother, and even found its way onto numerous vehicles. The Gebirgsjaeger, German mountain soldiers, even had a version that could be broken down into packs and hauled up mountains.
Thats all we have for you today, but stay tuned to our forums, our YouTube Channel and our Main Website for future updates!

BGF Update #73 – Achtung Panzer!
Welcome back to another update for Battlegroup Frontlines. Since last time we have been working hard to not only enhance our existing content, but to make new content that will be just as amazing, if not more amazing.
The first thing we have to show off today is the Ferdinand tank, the small brother of the better equipped Elefant tank.
The Ferdinand was a heavy assault tank designed by Prof. Dr. Ing h.c. Ferdinand Porsche and built by the Nibelungenwerke, especially for the needs of the Eastern Front. Ferdinand’s design was based on Porsches Tiger – VK 4501 (P) prototype which proved to be prone to mechanical failures and was rejected in favor of Henschel’s Prototype that would later become the Tiger I.
In September of 1942 it was ordered that the prototype chassis were to be converted to heavy assault tanks armed with 88mm Pak 43/2 L/71 guns, and in November 1942 the first design was ready. In March of 1943 the first fully completed Ferdinand was presented to Adolf Hitler on the testing grounds at Ruegenwalde. Hitler himself was very pleased with it, and ordered to speed up the production for the upcoming Summer offensive.
The team has been working hard on this tank, and it shows. Involved on this great task were Koricus who built the model, Postman who gave it some colors and at last [USI]Guedoe who put this beast in-game. It is by far one of the most beautiful tanks we have in the mod right now, and I especially (Archimonday) look forward to destroy some Russian armor in this ugly dog of war.
Vehicle Camo
Keeping on with our vehicles, Wasper recently did some experimentation with vehicle camouflage. Although it is a heavy work in progress it is definitely worth a look by heading over to our Youtube channel and checking out this video:

New Additions
In addition to adding a new tank to our roster, we also have taken in a new mapper. I (Archimonday) first caught wind of this brilliant man on the Forgotten Hope forums, where he was making maps for a tournament known as World At War (http://bfewaw.com). I soon convinced him that he should join us at BGF, and soon after, Scrutinized joined our team and he is a welcome addition to our squad of mappers.
Hand Weapons
Last but not least we have some updates to our weapons. Over the past few weeks I have been in a state of heavy experimentation with our hand-weapons, trying to find the absolute best coding, animation style, and all around feel for the weapons. Happily, I stumbled upon a combination that I think looks great, feels great, and will make our weapons feel powerful and make them fun to use. Learn more by watching our latest Battlecast video on Youtube:

For those of you who didn’t read the disclaimer at the beginning of the video I just want to note that the videos I (Archimonday) record are recorded on the lowest graphical settings, and do not represent the mods graphics.
We have also adopted a Project Reality Bipod system for some of our bipod machine guns and rifles. Two of such weapons are the FG42 and the FG42 ZF, and later weapons such as the PTRD, PTRS, MG42, and MG34 will use the same system albeit more cumbersome. To check that out head back on over to Youtube to check it out:

Finally, we did some slight work to our time dynamite, and made a short video demonstrating it. There are two types of Dynamite in the mod, a 15 Second Fuse, and 30 Second Fuse variants. One or both will be showing up in your engineer bag for use against all sorts of enemy targets.

Conclusion
Thanks for reading, please feel free to head on over to our forums and post suggestions, or simply join our community. We are not a very big group of people right now, but we hope that we can get some of you over to our forums for some civil conversation, and some good debates to make our mod its absolute best.
We Need Help!
On a final note, BGF is still looking for help, we are in desperate need of a few good workers who can aid us in creating our dreams of the Eastern Front. We especially need some Character Modelers who can help us improve our existing models, or make us new ones. So if you have talents with 3ds Max, Photoshop, the BF2 Editor, and are good at what you do, please post an application on our forums, and help us out!
Thanks again for reading, and stay tuned for future updates!
