OPK: #33 Scout Spotted!

1 03 2008

Some of you were asking us, what the idea behind the public betatest was. We have tested some settings to improve the gameplay, to create a real “OPK-gameplay”. After some weeks without any news about progresses, we show you something new today. Sadly we have to announce, that we can´t finish this beauty for the release of 0.25.

Retrospect:
Some of you were asking us, what the idea behind the public betatest was. We have tested some settings to improve the gameplay, to create a real “OPK-gameplay”. After some weeks without any news about progresses, we show you something new today. Sadly we have to announce, that we can´t finish this beauty for the release of 0.25.

In case some other serveradmins want the new settings too they are invited to announce this in ou

What else has happened:
Besides our Senior-Coder has returned to duty from his unwanted “providerholidays” after 6 weeks. Osis has fixed his PC after some heavy virus attack. And we like to welcome some new members in the team.mR.d@hLa! is a new modler in our team. He has just finished his first project and starts to build us more “tools” for OPK.

SirCommandant will support our mappers. His first project is to overwork the 16 player maps to make nice 4on4 and 8on8 figths possible.

Because of the fact that the 0.25 toy still have some bugs we will take a look into the future.

Future: The FennekSince a few days he is hidden in our Mediasection. And now the time has come to free the armored recon vehicle Fennek. Admittedly the Fennek will be part of a future release after version 0.25. Well we are no magicians, but there are advances…

Cou can fine more fennek pictures on www.opkmod.com

The Fennek is a brilliant example for mod crossing work on content. Ivan has build him originally for the “GAMEOVER”- Mod for Crysis, but he will be made fit into OPK. We still don’t have a Skin for the vehicle, but this one will be finished pretty soon. Trahnlee from EOD is working hard to get the thing going. But it is is still much work to do…For all Crysis-Fans a look over to the guys from the GAMEOVER-Mod will probably be profitable. Who knows what we have hidden there or what they have hidden here?

www.gameover-mod.de But for all BF2-Fans out there we want to announce that we won’t switch to Crysis. What doesn’t mean that some Modders will support some teams there.

With those pictures we leave you for now until the next update.

OPK #32 Tankbuster II: Bumbar

17 01 2008

Not only the germans get a new “tin-opener” but the serbians, too. It is an old friend out of the BF:V times: the “Bumbar”

Soldiercoding:

The first announcement is about the tuning of the soldiers. Nightmare is working on a system which allows us to put different types of armor to the soldiers. For example a sniper will have less bodyarmor than an assault soldier who is fighting directly at the frontline. The running speed and stamina of each class will be overworked too so that an anti-tank guy doesn’t have as much stamina like a special forces troop. We hope that this can be finished for upcoming 0.25 release of OPK…
The Bumbar:

This anti-tank-weapon is a replica of the french ERYX-system. In the game we will have it as an stationary weapon but also the portable version will be implemented as a construction set with whom enemy konvois con be destroyed out of bets cover. Already in BF:V many people liked this variant of the Bumbar.

A third possibility is propably a version which has to be build up with sandbags. This option is in testing at the moment.

BSS - OPK update #31: Milan

10 01 2008

The mostly feared by serbian tankdrivers in the long history of OPK is the portable anti-tank-weapon MILAN 2.

We hope you all made it good to the new year. Our first update in 2008 gives you a foretaste to the content of the version 0.25. After the next news we will provide you some fresh pictures out of the game. The work on new content goes on, but of course new motivated helpers are always welcome!

Already in the BFV-Version we had the MILAN (french: Missile d’Infanterie léger antichar) ingame. It was developed in the 70s under german-french cooperation. Since 1984 the lightweightest ground to ground wire controlled weapon of the 2. generation is in the use of the Bundeswehr. The control unit in this version is equipped with a thermal vision. The Gunner only needs to point the crosshairs at the target and the wire guided missile will follow these instructions until it hits the target. In the meantime the MILAN is used by over 40 countries throughout the world. The last important usage was the fight of the Israelis in the fight against the Hisbollah in the Libanon.
Quelle: Wikipedia

In future the MILAN will be used as a stationary defensive postion, vehicle-mounted and especially we want to put them ingame as a portable version in a special kit which is very rare an the battlefield.
Model and skin were made by Terp (BWMod) and Metalchris (BWMod). Our coder starforce is responsible for the installation in our mod.

Visit www.opkmod.com for more pictures!

The last point for today is that we want to announce a small advance. Tass, our phytoncoder, had had a very good idea to use our maps in many ways. We hope to be able to present you some maps in different vehicle equipment and gamemodes. For example there are supplyline and another new gamemode which is receiving his specialities at the moment. But before we can release this we will have to check this through. But we hope that its ready when we want to release the 0.25 version…
