BSS - Battleship Update 10-02-07
2 10 2007Its been a while since the last update from us, but I’ve never really been keen on providing updates unless I had something important to say, today I do. In exactly 3 weeks from now I leave for Basic Training for the Air Force, my goal was to have our next release out before then, because if it wasn’t then I wasn’t going to be able to work on it for at least 4 months. That would put our mod on a hiatus until I get back, since I’m the only active modder on the team right now(Besides Sauerkraut, but he only works on models).
Unfortunately, it looks like I wont be able to meet those requirements as work has proved to be too much for me to handle alone. I will continue working for as long as I can, and if(and this is a very big “if”) I can pull together a somewhat reasonable build in the next few weeks, and have at least a few people test it then maybe, just maybe I’ll be able to release something.
My planned changelog was to be this(Green being stuff already finished, Blue being stuff that I’m currently working on, and Red stuff that I haven’t even started)-

My biggest issue are the playermodels, I can cut out the gamemodes, and new menu’s for the release, but the one thing I wanted for this release were new playermodels. So that right there is the determining factor about whether or not there will be a release this year. If I can come across some new ones, then who knows….

Hey there, I can remember playing this mod shortly after it’s first release, I think we even had a short discussion on one of your servers. I just wanted to say hi and that i’m glad to see that you are still working on the mod. I would like to help with the testing but unfortunately my job does not leave me enough spare time. I really hope everything works out well for you, for many people you are living a dream just by being in the Air Force. When I was a kid I can remember watching movies like Top Gun and Iron Eagle and I wanted nothing more than to take to the skies in the seat of an F-14 or F-16.

Well these are nice pics. And as far as the guy who is putting this mod out. You’re going to do fine in the Air Force basic training. I’ve been through it before and know what it’s like. Just keep a level head and you’ll make it. Do what the instructors tell you to do and you won’t have any trouble. And one other thing. Don’t always listen to other recruits that think they know everything cause they don’t. Do what’s from your heart and that is be the best you can be and don’t listen to someone else that tells you that you can’t do it. I was in the Air National Guard for 12 years and have been there and done that. Not the overseas thing, just other things. You’ll be seeing alot of places. Take advantage of it and stay safe. I’ll be praying for you too.

Please release something new before you go, Battleship was one of the better surprises I’ve had with BF2 mods: it works (no lag), it’s different (no near future army setting) and most of all it’s fun.
And personally I could do without different game modes, conquest seems to work pretty good as is. But extra maps / vehicles would be fun ;o)
