5. Village

5.1 The story:
The last day there were many fights in this small town. Both KFOR and VSCG try to hold the centre. Because of the city’s construction, it’s impossible to use heavy arms. As it is still unknown if the complete civil population was evacuated, all quarters have to be hardly captured by house-to-house fighting.

5.2 The facts:
Mapsize: 1024er
Player: 16/32/64
Infantrymap

5.3 The pictures:
Small and devoured lanes and dark corners: That’s Gladi’s last OPK map, “Village”. Optimised by mavy and Bierpizzachips.

6. Code Bravo

6.1 The story:
Through intelligence informants, the German HQ in Prizren is alerted that serbian forces plan to install a town near the Adriatic Sea as a supply base. The main target is to avoid the therewith possibly linked displacement of local people and to prevent the construction of the base. KFOR units will secure the town and wait for reinforcement, or - if the town is already captured by serbian forces - force the occupier to fallback. A fix-installed VSCG base with access to the sea in this area would be a big disadvantage for KFOR. Serbian supplyroutes may be shortened and VSCG wil be strengthened if the operation fails.

6.2 The facts:
Mapsize: 1024
Player: 16/32/64

6.3 The pictures:
Bierpizzachips added Singelplayer- and COOP-support to this map to support all our fans to play OPK on the next LAN-party.

OPK #22: HowTo - About pilots and a change of plans…

29 09 2007

From time to time you have to do more than just shoot your enemies.
Today we explain/introduce one of the new features of the 0.2 release of OPK to you.

1. Kit-Upgrade

To give everybody the right tools, we implemented an upgrade-system. You have the possibility to get an upgrade for some of kits (i.e. an antitank soldier gets a stinger upgrade). The following pictures compare the standard and the upgrade kits.

How to Order:

- You have to be squadleader or close to your sql or an ammobox.
- Press your squad-commrose Key (default ‘T’) and choose “Upgrade Kit”.
- If your request was succesfull, a kit appears below your player
- Press the ‘G’ key (or your custom key) to pick it up.

Please note:

- Your kit(that you have chosen in the join-menu) must have an upgrade (not all classes have one .. i.e. the MG-gunner does not have one jet)
- You can only request one kit per spawn

2. pilotkit

As most of you surely know, the standard kits in OPK have no parachute.
If you want to jump out of a jet or a chopper, you should request a pilot kit first.
Note that you have to be close to a plane or a chopper to get one.

3. Change of plans

The change of plans affects several maps.
Some custom-maps (originally from the WTF-clan (www.wtf-base.de)) will be part of the release.
Unfortunately one of our own maps (Osicje Valley) had to be delayed to a later update.
we already presented it in our Dev Diary.

Don’t worry - the preparations for the final release have already begun …
(a Torrent, FTP and HTTP-downloads are being prepared for you right now)

Project Reality v0.61 Patch Released!

29 09 2007

The Project Reality Mod Team and Black Sand Studios are proud to announce the official release of the Project Reality v0.61 Client Patch and Server Update!

Over the past two months, we have been tediously combing through Project Reality v0.6, addressing any major issues and bugs which were introduced upon its release. Thanks to the continued support from you, the community, and our team of dedicated testers, we have successfully corrected many of the bugs and have even thrown a few new features into the fray. The Project Reality v0.61 Patch greatly improves the overall stability of the mod and leaves us a solid foundation to construct future releases on.

Thanks to several direct link providers, there are numerous links available from our files page, including both torrent & direct downloads.

Download the Project Reality v0.61 Patch Here

New Features and Updates:
Project Reality has finally been blessed with the highly anticipated WAH-64 Apache. Initially planned to be in the v0.6 release, this two-seat attack helicopter was excluded due to a minor coding mishap, but it is now included on Kashan Desert (32 player version).

The main update included in the v0.61 patch is the completely revamped British Woodland and Desert Skins. Both were re-designed from the ground up by two of our very own community members, Splush and Shiftys1023. I will let the screenshots do the talking for this one.

Bug Fixes and Code Changes:
The v0.61 patch optimizes both the client and server side python code, updates the localization files, and incorporates various sound tweaks. Improvements have also been performed to multiple maps, improving their overall stability. Some of the major changes/fixes include:

  • Servers can run localized versions of the server messages for kit request, rally points, commander assets, etc. (Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazilian), Spanish and Swedish).
  • Ammunition can be obtained from rally points like intended.
  • Insurgency game mode has been overhauled.
  • Crewman kit does not have a wrench anymore.
  • Totally new parachute logic (depending on the time from opening until you hit the ground you take different amounts of damage - 30s for no damage).
  • Multiple map updates to improve balance and game play.
  • Commander trucks can now be requested at bunkers and firebases.
  • Scoring system updates to encourage teamwork and staying together as a squad.
  • Server stability and performance updates.

Project Reality Manual Updated:
We have continued to update the Official Project Reality Manual so both new players and veterans alike can stay up to date and prepare for the intense battles you can only find in Project Reality. All major updates and new features found in the v0.61 patch are explained and outlined in the manual. Current languages available are English, Spanish, and German.

As always, the Project Reality Team would like to thank all of the supporting Battlefield 2 mod websites, server providers, and of course our dedicated community for all of their hard work and continued support. In particular, we want to send a special thanks to our tester crew who did a fantastic job helping us sort out some very complex issues with this release. Without all of your combined efforts and contributions, Project Reality would not be where it is today!

BSS - USI Update 9-16-07

28 09 2007

Hello all, Its been a little longer than we liked but we have another update for you.

First we have info on the overall mod’s status. With few active devs working as hard as humanly possible, we have only a few things left to finish it all up for our fans. Those who keep up with USI on our site has seen that we are at 99.6% done for this release. It has taken some time to do but we strongly believe that wait all have encountered will be well worth it.

Now for some good stuff. The reason this update is late is due to the final .15 promo vid we wanted to show not getting quite done in time but we wanted it to really show our stuff so we let it continue to be produced just for that.. We have 2 hi rez and 2 low rez versions of promo 2 here. A few noticeable thing in this vid is some misspells and when it says destructible terrain, its talking about the statics, but we had no more time to correct this as we wanted to get this out and all have waited long enough. You can also see some screen shots taken during the making of the vid here. Plus we have 2 sneak peek renders for all to see, on the upcoming .2 scheduled after .15. We will get into what they are and description later when we have em in game.

Till next time…
